Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Course

For those working within health and social care settings, regardless of role, you may find yourself faced with potentially life-threatening situations. This Basic Life Support course is designed to give you the knowledge and understanding required to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.

This course will help provide you with invaluable knowledge on how to deliver potentially life-saving help. It teaches you how to assess situations with primary and secondary surveys, techniques, the recovery position, and how to react to a variety of emergencies, such as choking or anaphylaxis. 

COURSE TYPE

The Healthcare Provider Course is for medical, para-medical and allied healthcare professionals. The skills taught include 
adult and paediatric CPR including two rescuer scenarios, use of bag valve mask and barrier devices, management of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO), and use of AED's. 
The course takes approximately 5.5 hours to complete and course participants are evaluated by skills testing and a written evaluation. Multiple choice questions (MCQ) Course completion cards are given upon successful completion of the course.

CERTIFICATION

Irish Heart Foundation/ American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certificate Card.

RECERTIFICATION

​Course must be repeated every 2 years.
